I dragged myself out of bed to head to the free concert at what may well be our new church. We found my knitting at the last minute which delighted me. I said to Kev, “If the concert is good, this will make it great. If it is eh, it will make it fine.” He chuckled and we headed out.
Apparently it was starting half an hour later than we were expecting so we saw lots of preparatory hustle and bustle. First there was a ukulele ensemble- it was quite entertaining. I think my favorite piece was a rendition of “All of Me” with a very textured male voice on solo. Loved it. Then a singer/songwriter took the stage with some of her friends. Really good stuff. A sixteen year old friend of hers blew me away with one number- the lyrics of which were obnoxious, but I think she could have sung ANYTHING and I would have been blown away. I texted my sister during the concert. She, the one who makes music wherever she goes these days, she should be living here. Friends, this was free, and less than three miles from our home.
The church yard filled up with people of all ages, and LOTS of little kids including one who made my day completely given his get-up- full spiderman costume (well, no mask) AND orange crocs. I so wanted to get a picture, but he just moved too fast. So you’ll have to imagine a… four or five year old spidey with a mop of brown hair and fabulous orange crocs. I’m not a big fan of the croc, but, on that kid, PERFECTION.
So now I think I’ll tackle some of those settling in tasks. But first, I skipped the homemade icecream at the concert, we have some that is naturally sweetened that we picked up at a natural food market where Kev put in a job application today and I think I’ll enjoy some creamy black raspberry goodness.
I added several rows to the baby blanket I’ve been working on on and off for months now. And it did make the night GREAT. I love all the moments that are being knitted into this blanket for our little one.
